Reggie Brown: Future Author
(Launching January 15)
Program Overview
A 12-Week Story Journey Through the Reggie Brown Writing Club
The Reggie Brown Writing Club (RBWC) is an enrichment program designed to help children see themselves as writers by meeting them where they are—curious, imaginative, and full of ideas.
Built around the narrative arc of a story called "Reggie Brown: Future Author", the program follows Reggie as she joins an afterschool writing club and discovers that stories don’t appear fully formed. Instead, they grow from everyday moments, big feelings, thoughtful observations, and the courage to try. Through Reggie’s experiences, participants learn that writing is a process—and that mistakes, revisions, and “messy drafts” are all part of becoming an author.
Each module blends short story passages, reflection prompts, and hands-on writing activities that invite children to:
-
discover where ideas come from
-
experiment with storytelling and self-expression
-
build confidence in their own voices
-
develop consistent writing habits
RBWC emphasizes progress over perfection and encourages children to identify as authors in progress—thinkers, storytellers, and creators with something important to say.
RBWC is ideal for classrooms, homeschool settings, afterschool programs, libraries, and families seeking a joyful, literacy-rich writing experience that supports both reading and writing development.
How It Works
Delivered on the Reggie Brown Reads Skool page, each week includes
A Story Passage (400–500 words)
Centering Reggie’s experience in the Young Writers Club as she tackles a new writing focus—from idea-gathering and character creation to dialogue, revision, and final sharing.
A Writing Skill Theme
Every passage naturally introduces or models a concept from the week’s lesson (e.g., Where Ideas Come From, Show vs. Tell, Building Tension, Voice & Tone, etc.).
Optional Classroom Activities
Teachers, parents, and facilitators can pair the weekly passage with writing prompts, discussion questions, graphic organizers, or creative exercises—adaptable for classrooms, homeschools, afterschool programs, and libraries.
A Growing Sense of Writer Identity
Across 12 weeks, students watch Reggie experiment, struggle, giggle, get stuck, keep going, and ultimately embrace who she truly is—a writer with something to say. This mirrors the real journey young authors take as they build confidence and voice.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What is the Reggie Brown Writing Club?
The Reggie Brown Writing Club (RBWC) is a literacy-focused writing enrichment program designed to help children strengthen their writing skills through storytelling, creativity, and self-expression. Students follow along with Reggie Brown—an aspiring author herself—as they explore ideas, develop confidence, and begin to see themselves as writers.
What does it mean that RBWC is an “enrichment program”?
As an enrichment program, RBWC is designed to supplement—not replace—classroom instruction. It provides additional opportunities for children to practice reading and writing skills in a low-pressure, engaging environment that prioritizes creativity, curiosity, and confidence-building.
How long will the program run?
The club is designed to run 12 weeks. Each week unlocks new lessons, writing prompts, and Scribble Book pages to guide young writers through the full storytelling journey—from dreaming & planning, to writing & creating, to celebrating and sharing.
How is the program delivered?
The entire program is delivered digitally through our Reggie Brown Reads Skool classroom. Families and classrooms receive weekly access to short video lessons, Scribble Starter prompts, Reggie Brown story passages, and printable Scribble Book pages—plus a Parent/Teacher Program Guide. All materials are available to download and print directly from the online classroom.
Can siblings or multiple students use one plan?
Yes! Your membership includes permission for use by a single household or a single classroom. Siblings can share the program at home, and teachers may use it with up to 30 students in their class.
Is RBWC tutoring or remedial intervention?
No. RBWC is not a tutoring or intervention program. It is an enrichment experience intended to spark interest in writing, reinforce literacy skills naturally, and encourage students to apply what they already know in meaningful, creative ways.
Is the Writing Club aligned with academic standards?
RBWC is not a standards-based or test-prep program. However, the activities naturally support key literacy skills commonly found in ELA standards, including:
-
Written expression
-
Reading comprehension
-
Vocabulary development
-
Critical thinking
-
Story structure and sequencing
This makes the club easy to use alongside existing classroom or homeschool instruction.
I am a homeschooling parent. Will this feel like extra homework for my child?
No. RBWC is intentionally designed to feel creative and inviting, not like additional schoolwork. The focus is on exploration, imagination, and personal expression—not grades, performance, or perfection.
Can educators use RBWC during the school day?
Yes. Educators can use RBWC:
-
During literacy centers or small-group instruction
-
As a writing club or elective
-
In after-school or enrichment settings
-
As independent or choice-based learning
The flexible structure allows educators to integrate the materials in ways that fit their schedule and instructional goals.
Is RBWC appropriate for struggling writers?
Yes—with support. While RBWC is an enrichment program, many students who struggle with traditional writing tasks thrive in creative, low-pressure environments. The club emphasizes ideas and voice first, helping students build confidence as writers.
Do students need prior writing experience to participate?
Not at all. RBWC welcomes writers at all stages, from students who are just beginning to put ideas on paper to those who already love writing stories.
Can families use the Writing Club at home?
Absolutely. RBWC is designed for both classroom and home use, making it a great fit for families who want to support writing development in a relaxed, meaningful way.
How is RBWC different from traditional writing programs?
RBWC centers storytelling, identity, and imagination. Instead of focusing on grades or rigid outcomes, students are encouraged to:
-
Generate and explore ideas
-
Experiment with voice and creativity
-
Reflect on their thinking
-
See themselves as real writers
All through the lens of the main character Reggie Brown!
What is the ultimate goal of the Reggie Brown Writing Club?
The goal of RBWC is to help children build strong writing skills while discovering confidence, creativity, and pride in their own stories—all within a supportive enrichment environment.
